Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner mercenary group, is presumed dead after a plane belonging to him was shot down by air defenses in the Tver region, north of Moscow.
This comes after Prigozhin enacted a failed uprising against Vladimir Putin two months ago. Russian news agency Tass reported that all ten people aboard the plane,  three pilots and seven passengers, were killed. However, conflicting reports arose after state-owned news outlet RIA Novosti later cited emergency services claiming eight bodies were found at the crash site.
The Wagner Group released a statement, revealing that they are “still awaiting information.” However, Russia’s Federal Agency for Air Transport said that a “Yevgeny Prigozhin” was listed as one of those onboard the Embraer plane.
