According to reports, Nigeria has banned Twitter’s ability to operate in the country.

The news was confirmed by the Ministry of Information and Culture via a statement this past Friday. The statement accused Twitter of allowing their platform to be used “for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.“ Reports noted that Twitter deleted a tweet by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari where he threatened to deal with people in the southeast part of the country. The president allegedly blames the southeast for the recurring attacks that are taking place against infrastructure in the area.
