According to the Los Angeles City Council President, Kobe Bryant will have a portion of Figueroa Street near the Staples Center named after him.
The street will reportedly be renamed for the late NBA player between W Olympic Blvd and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The Staples Center is a block away from Olympic Blvd. The news is monumental because Kobe Bryant played at the Staples Center for almost 20 years. LA City Council President Herb Wesson Jr. took to Twitter and said:
Figueroa St. will soon be Kobe Bryant Blvd. between Olympic & MLK.
Kobe’s legacy is bigger than basketball. #KobeBryantBlvd will be a reminder to everyone, young and old who drive down it, there is no obstacle too big and that with the #Mambamentality , anything is possible. pic.twitter.com/gvekIFOU5u
