According to NBA insider Chris Broussard, the Toronto Raptors met with Kawhi Leonard and apparently pulled out all the stops in recruiting him back to “The North.”
Broussard reported earlier today that Kawhi has all but eliminated the Clippers from contention and is doing some deep “soul searching” in order to arrive at the best decision.
The most interesting element of Broussard’s report was the involvement Drake had in the recruitment process. The 6 God reportedly offered a role with OVO as part of the deal if he decides to re-sign with the Raptors. Refutations abound with regard to Broussard’s report as it pertains to Drake, with many citing that Drake wasn’t even in Toronto yesterday. However, technology allows people to meet from virtually anywhere in the world today and reports coming out as early as last week claimed that Drake would have an active role in recruiting Kawhi.
As #KawhiWatch continues, it will be a decision that will undoubtedly have a seismic impact on the league for years to come.
Kawhi Update: Raptors had strong meeting yesterday. Drake heavily involved. Talked of having Kawhi involved w/his OVO record label. Kawhi in deep soul searching. Wants Lakers but wants to make sure Big 3 will fit/work. Clippers out. It’s btwn Lakers & Raptors. Very close.
