FDA and CDC End Pause on Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine

According to reports, the FDA and CDC have ended the short pause on the vaccine after reports that the single-dose shot caused blood clots.

Before the pause, roughly 6.8 million doses of the J&J vaccine had been administered. Despite the cases of clotting, the CDC argued that the rewards of the J&J vaccine far outweigh the risks. The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control are calling for a halt on the Johnson & Johnson single-dose COVID-19 vaccine amid cases of clotting. It was reported that six recipients in the United States developed a rare disorder involving blood clots within about two weeks of vaccination. All of the recipients who developed the clotting disorder were women between the ages of 18 and 48. One woman died and a second woman in Nebraska has been hospitalized in critical condition. This is out of the nearly 7 million people who have been vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
