Tim Scott, the lone Black GOP senator, delivered the official Republican response to Joe Biden’s address to Congress.

In his response, the South Carolina senator states, “America is not a racist country. It’s wrong to try to use our painful past to try to dishonestly shut down debates in the present.” Scott stated that he’s “experienced the pain of discrimination,” and adding, “I know what it feels like to be pulled over for no reason and to be followed around a store while Iā€™m shopping.”
