A bronze statue of Kobe and Gigi Bryant was placed at the site where a helicopter carrying them and 7 others crashed, killing everyone inside.
Dan Medina is the artist behind the statue, which features the names of the other victims: John Altobelli, his wife, Keri, and their daughter Alyssa; Christina Mauser; Sarah Chester and her daughter Payton; and pilot Ara Zobayan — inscribed on its base. It also features the quote, “Heroes come and go, but legends are forever.”
Medina also revealed to NBC Los Angeles that it will remain there temporarily, and he added that he hopes it is moved closer to Crypto.com Arena. Medina says he hopes the city of Los Angeles would allow him to permanently place a larger, life-sized version at the site.
