Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms took to Twitter on Monday to reveal that she has tested positive for COVID-19.
“COVID-19 has literally hit home. I have had NO symptoms and have tested positive,” she tweeted. Bottoms has gained national prominence with her response to the civil unrest in her city in wake of the George Floyd uprisings, in addition to being considered as a running mate for the presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden. According to the Georgia Department of Health, there are 97,064 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the state and at least 2,878 confirmed deaths.
