The day after the Los Angeles Lakers lost their first-round playoff series to the Phoenix Suns, many analysts pointed to the injury-plagued season the Lakers had, particularly Anthony Davis.
The Brow attempted to give it a go for Game 6 on Thursday with a strained groin but managed only five minutes of action. Davis initially sustained the injury during Game 4 in Los Angeles and reaggravated it last night, leading many to question why he was out there in the first place. The narrative circulating sports-talk radio is Davis played Game 6 to prove to critics that he was actually injured. However, Davis had words for his critics following the disappointing first-round exit and specifically addressed the matter of having something to prove. Davis said:
“I’m not going to prove anything to anyone. It doesn’t matter to me. The things that everybody are saying? It comes with the territory. When you’re a player of my caliber, guys expect things from you and are going to say things about you. Whatever their reason is, it’s my job to be on the floor. I know what I go through and what I play through and what my body goes through. The front office and coaching staff know. So I don’t need to prove anything to anyone that’s outside of this Lakers organization.”Â
