A New York woman recently went toe-to-toe with a rabid fox in an on-camera incident that has since gone viral.

The occurrence began when the woman innocently stood out on her front lawn in the city of Ithaca while engaging in a conversation on her cell phone. Suddenly, a little fox came scampering across the grassy area before throwing itself at the woman, making it very clear that he was there for one reason and one reason only: To fight. So, the woman obliged the rabid wild animal by kicking him like a football and throwing him to the ground. But the fox wasn’t done with her…not by a long shot. The wild animal quickly lunged at the woman again. This time, he appeared to bite her arm and hand, which prompted her to spin round and round like a helicopter to shake herself loose from the clutches of his teeth.

The fighting continued until one of the woman’s neighbors joined in on the fray in order to help fight off the wild animal. He eventually chased the fox off with a giant stick, but the damage had been done as the woman suffered several lacerations on her hands before receiving medical treatment for her injuries. The fox, it returned to the area shortly thereafter to mix it up with another human, but this time around, it was killed and taken to a Cornell University lab, where tests confirmed that it had rabies.
