In an interview for TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle, iconic filmmaker and actor, Tyler Perry, sits down with Justin Sylvester and exclusively reveals that he is moving to Puerto Rico and pulling back on his workload.
The 57-year-old famed film producer and actor recently shared that he intends to move to Puerto Rico with son Aman, 11, at the start of 2027. Perry also says that he hasn’t been on a date “in 30 years,” talks about the impact of Black communities on his career, opens up about the loss of his mother, celebrates being a dad and more. Perry shares his son with ex-girlfriend Gelila Bekele, whom he dated from 2009 to 2020. He said he never intends on tying the knot. The news comes after the release of Why Did I Get Married Again?, the third installment in the Why Did I Get Married? franchise, which began in 2007. In addition to his work in the entertainment industry, Perry is also well known for his charitable efforts. In late July, a woman in Alabama revealed that he was making it possible for her to pursue a graduate degree at Harvard University.
In September, he volunteered to help a woman living in Illinois, who racked up roughly $18,000 in debt after a pipe burst in her home of 40 years. Perry has also faced legal drama in recent years. The Hollywood mogul is currently at the center of two lawsuits after being accused of sexual misconduct, allegations he has strongly denied.
