Thousands of demonstrators staged what they called “Operation Gridlock” and was organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition and the Michigan Freedom Fund to voice their frustrations with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D). Despite the protest, Whitmer defended her aggressive approach to tapering the coronavirus in the state with the third-highest confirmed cases after New York and New Jersey with more than 28,000 cases and nearly 2,000 deaths.
