In just under three minutes, Taylor shows audiences a whole different side of her with an emotional story about what it is to be a young struggling mother in New York City.
The synopsis for the Harlem-set drama reads as follows: “A Thousand and One follows unapologetic and free-spirited Inez (Teyana Taylor), who kidnaps her six-year-old son Terry from the foster care system. Holding onto their secret and each other, mother and son set out to reclaim their sense of home, identity, and stability, in a rapidly changing New York City.”
Despite the fact the film hasn’t been released everywhere yet, it’s already turned out to be a hit. A Thousand and One won the Dramatic Jury Prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
