The Seattle defense controlled the action from start to finish to lead the Seahawks to their second Super Bowl title.

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 tonight to win Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara. Running back Kenneth Walker III was named the MVP after rushing for 135 yards on 27 carries, on a night the Seahawks’ defense forced three turnovers and scored a touchdown on an interception return by Uchenna Nwosu in the fourth quarter. Seahawks kicker Jason Myers set a Super Bowl record with five made field goals as Seattle claimed its second championship, denying New England its seventh.

As was the case 12 years ago when the Seahawks won their first Super Bowl, Sunday’s 29-13 win over the New England Patriots was the result of a dominant defensive performance, with the Seahawks keeping New England off the scoreboard for the first three quarters before they finally found the end zone already trailing by three scores.

The Seahawks sacked Drake Maye six times and had three takeaways, including a 45-yard Uchenna Nwosu pick six, which was made possible by a big hit on Maye by Devon Witherspoon that was originally credited as a sack/forced fumble before being changed to an interception. Another takeaway, a Derick Hall forced sack and fumble, set up Seattle’s lone offensive touchdown. The Seahawks got their first touchdown on a Sam Darnold pass to AJ Barner after that Hall forced fumble, and Jason Myers kicked a Super Bowl record five field goals to help the Seahawks stay in control even when the offense wasn’t finding the end zone.

The win caps one of the greatest seasons in franchise history, with the Seahawks going 14-3 in the regular season to win the NFC West and earn the NFC’s top seed before beating the 49ers and Rams in the playoffs to reach the Super Bowl.
