Two weeks to the day that news of his murder devastated the pop star and their family on the island, Rihanna’s cousin Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne was laid to rest following a service held in their native Barbados, on Tuesday, January 9.
Visuals obtained by The Blast shows the eight-time Grammy Award winner in attendance at the burial that followed a service at St. George Paris Church. Photos from the gathering capture Rihanna being among an exclusive group who wore white – seemingly in celebration of Alleyne’s life. She was seen lifting her shades to dab at her eyes with a napkin on several occasions and appears, in a particularly moving recording, to be one of the first family members on hand to lay a wreath on his grave.
Fans will recall Riri expressing her grief upon learning about her cousin’s death, which occurred in the St. Michael’s area of the island on December 26. Alleyne was actually gunned down less than 24-hours after spending Christmas with his famous relative. She’d go on to inform her followers of the development in an Instagram post that read, “RIP cousin… can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man!”
