The Mona Lisa, Leonardo da Vinci’s renowned masterpiece, became the center of attention again as it was targeted by activists from the environmental group Riposte Alimentaire.

The protest, which took place at the iconic Louvre museum in Paris, aimed to raise awareness about food insecurity in France, as stated by the organization. Fortunately, the painting, safeguarded by a layer of bulletproof glass, remained unharmed during the incident. In response, the Louvre released a statement confirming that two activists from Riposte Alimentaire had sprayed pumpkin soup onto the armoured glass protecting the Mona Lisa. The museum’s security personnel promptly intervened, and the Louvre intends to file a complaint.
