The NFL and the NFL Players Association revealed they are suspending COVID-19 protocols for the 2022 season, effective immediately.
The NFL released a memo saying they would no longer conduct mandatory testing for any staff and players. The league’s reasoning found them saying the “encouraging trends regarding the prevalence and severity of COVID-19, the evolving guidance from the CDC, changes to state law and the counsel of our respective experts.”
The memo also said players and staff members have to continue to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms “on a daily basis” ahead of stepping into an NFL facility. The NFL and NFLPA are open to working closely with federal public health officials and local and state officials if protocols are changed or reimposed.
The NFL and NFLPA have agreed to suspend all aspects of the joint COVID-19 Protocols, effective immediately, per sources.
After nearly two years of restrictions — and not a single game lost to the pandemic — it’s back to normal. Finally.
