Nasā€™ first album ā€˜Illmaticā€™ is regarded as one of hip-hopā€™s greatest albums and this year marks the 25th anniversary of the classic albumā€™s release.

Nas is happy for the praise of the album, but also said itā€™s ā€œcornyā€ to keep celebrating a moment that went down over 20 years ago. While speaking to Haute Living, Nas said

ā€œTwenty-five years is a lifetime. So I did another Symphony Orchestra show forĀ IllmaticĀ this year; I got another plaque for it, Iā€™m very gratefulā€”itā€™s so crazyā€”but to celebrate one album when Iā€™ve made over 10, all the things Iā€™ve worked onā€”and Iā€™ve been working for so longā€”to celebrate one album over all else is corny to me. I donā€™t want to celebrate anotherĀ IllmaticĀ anything. Iā€™m done. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for appreciating that record, but itā€™s over.”

When Nas unleashed his debut album “Illmatic” in 1994, he couldā€™ve never predicted the lasting impact it would have on Hip Hop culture. Twenty-five years later, the album is still one of the most revered pieces of Hip Hop music of all time.
