Authorities in Mexico seized an armored tank made from scrap materials from a drug cartel in the countryside of San José de Chila, about a seven-hour drive west of Mexico City.
Local reports claim that the tank belongs to the gang Los Viagras, which is run by a drug lord nicknamed “El Gordo,” or “the Fat One, and is currently locked in a turf war with another Mexican cartel. The Mexico Daily News added that the tanks used by cartels are often outfitted with battering rams, turrets, and high-caliber weapons. The tanks have also been known to be covered with steel panels nearly an inch thick, carrying a dozen or more people inside.
