Meek Mill has a storied past with the law, as the rapper struggled with incarceration along with a judge who allegedly had it out for him with a massive bias, causing light to be shined on how rigid the criminal justice system can be for African-Americans.

Since then, Meek has spoken out against the criminal justice system, calling for reform. Recently, the rapper connected with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker to help sign a new law. The law is set to start on January 1, 2024, and focuses on non-criminal technical violations that could lead people to be re-incarcerated.
