Recently, news surfaced noting that boxing star Manny Pacquiao is set to run for the presidency of the Philippines.

42-year-old Pacquiao was reportedly nominated by a candidate in the faction of the ruling party, PDP-Laban. Currently, Manny is a senator in the Philippines parliament, so his possible transition into the presidency could be a smooth one. Pacquaio made a pledge against corruption and poverty and called out corrupt officials from the Philippine government, saying they โ€œare nearing imprisonment.โ€

Pacquiao went on to say, โ€œYour time is up! We gave you a chance, but you failed us. We waited for a long time, decades have passed, but nothing happened.โ€ As of now, Manny has not chosen a running mate, but the PDP-Laban gave the boxer the choice of who will be his Vice President and on his senatorial slate.
