Cease revealed that Biggie didn’t just mentor him, he literally wrote songs for him, teaching him cadence, flow, and delivery. He credited Big for helping him find his voice in hip-hop and turning him from a kid running the streets into a professional rapper. Cease said Biggie had a vision for everyone around him, including Junior M.A.F.I.A., and wanted them all to win. “He always saw the bigger picture,” Cease shared, explaining how Biggie emphasized loyalty and pushed the group to stay sharp. This early guidance gave Cease the confidence to perform alongside one of the greatest to ever do it.
Fat Joe recalls being in the studio as The Notorious B.I.G. recorded his hit “Hypnotize,” describing it as the moment he understood the scale of Biggie’s fame. Fat Joe credited Diddy with steering Biggie toward R&B-driven records like Juicy and Hypnotize. While Big was hesitant at first, the pairing reshaped hip-hop and showcased his versatility as both a battle rapper and chart-topping artist. Looking back, Fat Joe said the experience taught him not to assume fame changes people.
