During a recent episode of his Brilliant Idiots podcast with Loren Larosa, Charlamagne broke down the thought process behind the jab, which he says was meant to highlight what he sees as Dame’s superficial tendencies. The back-and-forth stems from Dame Dash criticizing The Breakfast Club studio, calling it dirty during one of their public spats. Charlamagne admitted that he knew Dame’s comment was more about flexing than genuine criticism, so he decided to flip the script.
Charlamagne said his goal was to push Dame into revealing how much he cares about material possessions. What happened next surprised even him: Dame immediately took off his sneakers and showed them on camera in an effort to defend himself. Charlamagne compared Dame’s reaction to how an “OG” would handle the situation, saying someone truly secure wouldn’t have responded so quickly or defensively.
