LeBron James has been regarded as the NBA’s best player for the better part of the past decade-plus.

However, with age and the ascendance of other talented players (particularly Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo), LeBron has seen his grip on the title of the league’s “best” slip away.  As much has become apparent according to league executives and scouts who didn’t give LeBron a single vote as the best player in a recent poll. In response to the poll, LeBron tweeted, “THANK YOU! As if I didn’t need more to [fuel] ME! #Washed.” While the distinction of being the best player in the league certainly matters, even if on a superficial level, LeBron is looking for that elusive fifth championship, which should matter a little bit more.
