Kaepernick Calls Adoptive Parents’ Response to Him Embracing His Blackness ‘Problematic’

Colin Kaepernick has become one of the most visible athlete-activist of the last decade after his stance against police brutality and other forms of oppression which shape the lives of marginalized groups, particularly black people. 

He added that his mother would remark that his cornrows made him look like a “little thug” and that the hairstyle was unprofessional. But Kaepernick talked about how his identification with his blackness wasn’t always met with warmth and understanding, even from his parents.
