Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced the state expunged nearly half a million non-felony marijuana-related arrest records just before the new year.
The governor also announced thousands of low-level cannabis convictions were pardoned. Back in May 2019, Pritzker signed the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act, which mandates 47,000 cannabis-related arrest records between 2013 and 2019 be expunged by the new year 2021.
