Nas, Fat Joe, LL Cool J, Grandmaster Flash, Slick Rick, and a host of other hip-hop legends were on hand celebrating the groundbreaking for the Universal Hip-Hop Museum in the Bronx.

NYC mayor Bill De Blasio was on hand as well and offered up a few words while also participating in the recitation of “The Message.”

“Let me just do a really important official act here.” the mayor said. “Set some history straight. There are some good people on the West Coast, they did some good things. But hip hop was born in the Bronx.”
