Houston’s own Carl Crawford is best remembered for his speed on the basepaths with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

With that said, now the former 4x All-Star has found more success after baseball, having confirmed to TMZ that he’s actually the one that discovered the rising star known as Megan Thee Stallion. The Houston native signed with Crawford’s 1501 Certified Ent. indie label back in early 2018, prior to her linking with 300 Entertainment the following November. During the interview, Crawford reveals that it cost him at least 7 figures to start up the record label, a significant investment he was able to afford with the $179 million he earned throughout his 15-year-career.

“We got Megan and we think she’s gonna be a huge star, and not only her … we’re hoping we have other people come up through the system as well.”

Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion’s debut album Fever was released this week and is expecting to land in the Billboard Top 10, having already received major co-signs throughout the industry that includes Juicy J and Drake.
