More than 100 pairs of sneakers from the personal collection of Eminem, signed by the rapper himself, are going on the auction block to raise money for the rapper’s Marshall Mathers Foundation.
The sneakers are being offered through Julien’s Auctions, the Los Angeles-based auction house which specializes in pop culture-based artifacts and memorabilia. Among the sneakers being offered are pairs of Air Jordans, Air Max, Puma and Adidas footwear. Most if not all of the sneakers are size 10. Some of the bids start at as low as $25; bids for a pair of signed Carhartt x Nike Air Jordan 4 Promo Sneakers starts at $4,000. The auction represents the largest single-sale collection of Eminem material ever offered at public auction, according to Julien’s. The Marshall Mathers Foundation, Eminem’s charity, benefits youth in Detroit and the surrounding communities. The prize catch is the Air Jordan 3 āSlim Shady PE,ā one of only 25 pairs ever made, estimated at $25,000-$35,000. Eminem wore them during his Super Bowl LVI halftime performance with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, which gives that shoe a provenance you canāt manufacture. The Carhartt x Nike Air Jordan 4 sits at $15,000 to $25,000, a collab thatās been moving serious collector money for over a decade. The charity connection goes back to 2006, when Eminem launched a Nike Air Max series after losing his close friend Proof.
The Air Jordan 4 āEncoreā 2017, limited to 23 editions, also falls in the $15,000 to $25,000 range andĀ has heldĀ serious collector value for years. Shady Records president Paul Rosenberg described this as a rare chance to own pieces of Eminemās personal collection, including what he called āsome grails.ā
