The billionaire has long complained about the xAI model undermining right-wing narratives and recently said it would be “updated”.
Linda Yaccarino stepped down as CEO of Elon Musk’s X on Wednesday (July 9) after two years at the helm of the Elon Musk-owned platform, just days after its Grok chatbot drew backlash for making anti-Semitic remarks. The resignation, announced via a tweet came without a direct explanation, though it follows mounting scrutiny over the behaviour of Grok, the artificial intelligence tool developed by Musk’s xAI firm. Yaccarino joined X in May 2023 after a high-profile run at NBCUniversal, where she led global advertising. Her appointment by Elon Musk was seen as a strategic move to stabilize the platform’s business operations and rebuild relationships with advertisers following Musk’s 2022 acquisition of Twitter. During her time as CEO, she focused on content moderation, brand safety and restoring corporate trust.
