The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued an update to COVID-19 guidelines this past Thursday, noting that social distancing recommendations and quarantine measures would be dropped.
One of the updates found the CDC said, “to limit social and economic impacts, quarantine of exposed persons is no longer recommended, regardless of vaccination status.” Testing to screen for COVID won’t be recommended in places for people who don’t have COVID, and people who tested positive for COVID-19 can stop wearing their masks if their symptoms have shuttered and they test negative twice in a row. Changes to COVID guidelines for schools were also made, noting “cohorting” would be taken away. Greta Massetti of the CDC noted:
“This guidance acknowledges that the pandemic is not over, but also helps us move to a point where COVID-19 no longer severely disrupts our daily lives. It’s really about how people can understand how all of these components fit together. It starts with people understanding their own personal risk, for serious illness, and that of their loved ones.”
