During a recent presser while in Tulsa, OK, on the heels of the 100-year anniversary of the race riot that destroyed Black Wall Street, President Biden explained what he thinks is exacerbating the racial wealth gap.

Echoing previous viral soundbites, Biden said young black entrepreneurs are “just as capable of succeeding given the chance as white entrepreneurs are, but they don’t have lawyers, they don’t have accountants.”

The remarks garnered negative responses from many on social media, criticizing Biden for racist paternalism despite framing his comments as progressive.
