Rocky will not take the witness stand in his felony assault trial, a decision that could shape the final stages of the case against him.

On February 11th in a Los Angeles courtroom, the rapper confirmed that he is waiving his right to testify. After a discussion with his attorney, Rocky opted to sit out his own defense, foregoing the opportunity to speak directly to the jury. The decision comes as Rocky fights two felony charges related to an alleged 2021 incident involving former friend and A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli.

ASAP Rocky, originally named Rakim Mayers, is embroiled in a legal battle stemming from an alleged incident in November 2021. Prosecutors accuse the rapper of firing two 9mm bullets at a former friend, A$AP Relli, during an argument. This altercation reportedly took place at the intersection of Selma Avenue and Vista Del Mar Avenue. A$AP Relli testified that one of the bullets grazed his left hand, leaving visible injuries on his knuckles.

Throughout the trial, Rocky has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to two counts of felony assault charges involving a semiautomatic firearm. His defense claims that the gun in question was merely a prop, asserting that no real bullets were discharged during the incident. Adding a layer of intrigue, the rapper’s manager supported this defense, testifying that the weapon was indeed a prop used on set.
