Trump Demands Apology From Bishop Who Called For Mercy For Immigrants & LGBTQ+ Community

President Donald Trump is demanding a public apology from the Episcopal bishop of Washington who called on him to show mercy to immigrants and LGBTQ+ people during the inaugural prayer service on January 21st. 

During the service, the Right Rev. Mariann Budde pleaded with Trump to consider those targeted by the new administration’s policies. Trump’s remarks to the bishop follow his executive orders reversing transgender rights and enforcing stricter immigration policies. During his inauguration speech, Donald Trump announced, “it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female.”
