21 Savage was recently arrested by ICE after they said he had overstayed his visa. Now, the rapper’s lawyer has issued a statement, saying ICE is trying to “unnecessarily punish him.”

Attorney Charles Kuck said, As a minor, his family overstayed their work visas, and he, like almost two million other children, was left without legal status through no fault of his own.” Kuck also went at ICE for revealing the rapper pled guilty to felony drug possession in 2014, a conviction that has since been expunged. Kuck also revealed that 21 Savage applied for a U-Visa in 2017, but the application is pending. He noted ICE has known about the application but did not take any type of action until the arrest this weekend.
