Although Bill Cosby’s fall from grace seems to have damaged his reputation beyond repair, his spokesperson is suggesting that the man who was once ‘America’s favorite dad’ is still adored behind prison walls.
Andrew Wyatt tells TMZ that he’s visited Cosby dozens of times at the SCI Phoenix correctional facility in Pennsylvania, where he’s seen the disgraced comedian showered with applause by other inmates and their families. Wyatt also suggests that the guards think highly of Cosby as well, calling him Mr. Cosby as he tells them jokes and shares stories about his career. One of his biggest fans in particular, is a white, female correction staff officer who grew up watching “The Cosby Show.”
In addition to embracing him with celebrity treatment, Wyatt infers that the other inmates believe Cosby to be innocent, blaming corruption in the legal system as to why he was ever convicted. When Cosby was sentenced back in 2018, Wyatt called the trial “the most racist and sexist trial in the history of the United States…they persecuted Jesus and look what happened. Not saying Mr. Cosby is Jesus, but we know what this country has done to black men for centuries.”
Meanwhile, just last week a drone was spotted flying over the prison, with the apparent intention of capturing a photo of Cosby in his new element. Although it’s believed that the attempt was unsuccessful, the prison has now installed drone-detection systems as part of their security measures.
