Tiny had to sit through one of the most disrespectful moments in Hip-Hop history when Biggie called her group ugly on wax, but the story didn’t end there.
The Notorious B.I.G. dissed XSCAPE on his 1994 promotional single “Just Playing (Dreams)” with a line so harsh it became legendary, and the group initially didn’t care enough to even acknowledge it.
In the song’s second verse, the late rapper said, “I’ll f*** RuPaul before I f*** them ugly-ass Xscape b*tches.” The jab at the girl group didn’t sit well with them, but according to group member Tiny, Biggie Smalls had the opportunity to make amends before his death. Tiny and her fellow Xscape members appeared on a new episode of The Morning Hustle, where Tiny revealed how Biggie said apologized at a party. When Biggie would show up to XSCAPE shows in the same city, Jermaine Dupri kept trying to make peace between them, but the group wasn’t having it.
Tiny also said that he ended up passing away “probably like 20, 30 minutes after” they spoke. Biggie died on March 9, 1997, in a drive-by shooting following a Soul Train Awards afterparty in Los Angeles. He was shot four times and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. He was only 24 years old. Xscape released three albums during the height of their career. The group let loose their first album, Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha in 1993, Off the Hook in 1995, and Traces of My Lipstick in 1998. All three albums are RIAA-certified platinum.
