A tense interaction happened between best supporting actress nominee Teyana Taylor and a security guard at the 2026 Oscars.
Video posted to social media after the ceremony showed Taylor stopped in the midst of a crowd heading backstage at the Dolby Theater for a cast photo to celebrate One Battle After Another’s six Oscar wins. According to TMZ, the guard kept trying to control who could access the stage area. At one point, he even asked Taylor to apologize during the confrontation. Security at major events like the Oscars carefully manages crowd flow, but this guard’s approach crossed a line.
Taylor wasn’t backing down, as she stood her ground and called out what happened in real time. The incident happened right after her film won Best Picture, making the backstage drama even more visible to everyone around. The confrontation drew attention from nearby attendees who witnessed the exchange firsthand. Representatives from Security Industry Specialists, Inc., the security company that oversaw the Oscars this year, shared a statement with Vanity Fair characterizing the interaction as “incidental contact” and adding that “this is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team.”
The incident didn’t appear to ruin Taylor’s night, however: She swapped the dramatic Chanel gown she wore for the ceremony for a slinky white column dress, also by Chanel, and headed to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party to celebrate the year in film.
