According to reports, Mannie Fresh’s music catalog has been acquired by Reservoir Media.
The deal for Fresh’s music includes publishing and the rights to recorded music from the producer. Mannie Fresh produced a large chunk of Cash Money Records’ songs from 1998 to 2004, including hits like Juvenile’s “Back That Azz Up,” Big Tymers’ “Get Your Roll On” and “Number One Stunna,” and Lil Wayne’s “Go DJ.” Reservoir’s executive vice president of A&R—Faith Newman, commented: “Mannie’s clever production cultivated a powerful moment for Southern hip-hop, and his distinctive sound helped pave the way for other producers for years to come. I have personally been a fan of his for decades, and it’s a pleasure to bring him into the Reservoir family.”Â
The move by Mannie Fresh follows many other producers and artists like Jimmy Iovine, Zaytoven, RZA, Justin Bieber, Tina Turner, L.A. Reid, and No I.D., who also sold a portion or most of their catalogs.
