Kid Cudi is speaking out about his uncomfortable role in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal criminal trial — and why, despite his reluctance, he ultimately took the witness stand.
Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast around the 48:36-mark, the rapper told host Alex Cooper that testifying was something he never wanted to do. In fact, he says he told federal prosecutors “no” several times before being subpoenaed and legally compelled to appear in court. Cudi admitted he despised the entire experience, but chose to follow through to support his ex, Cassie Ventura, who was also a witness in the case. During the trial, Cudi recounted his brief relationship with Cassie — and the explosive fallout it sparked with Diddy. He testified that Diddy once broke into his home and hinted that the music mogul’s associates were behind a Molotov cocktail attack on his Porsche. Cudi also revealed why he skipped the traditional suit-and-tie courtroom attire, opting for a more casual look instead. For him, it was about showing up as himself rather than dressing to fit an image.
