The one and only Jamie Foxx will star in the newest Todd McFarlane’s and Blumhouse Productions’ “Spawn.”
Variety reports that Todd McFarlane, who created the original comic, is on board to write and direct the picture which he would also produce with Jason Blum. The character of Spawn first appeared in print in 1992. It became popular practically overnight.
“In 1997, New Line adapted the character into a feature film starring Michael Jai White. HBO also took a crack at the antihero in an animated series that lasted for three seasons, each with six episodes, and earned two Emmy Awards,” reports Variety.
Based on the comic book story, Spawn is a superhuman with extra strength and speed. Almost immortal, Spawn also can teleport, shapeshift, and heal. “Spawn” will be Foxx’s second film based on a comic book script. His first role was that of Electro in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”
Jamies Foxx is represented by CAA and LBI Entertainment. Deadline broke the news that Foxx signed onto the film.
