A new documentary called “Secrets of Playboy” is set to air on A&E starting in January, and clips of the project are being teased online, with Hugh Hefner’s former secretary speaking about the “leg spreader” drugs that were popular at the mansion.
The clip starts off with Sondra Theodore, a former Playmate from 1976 to 1981, also an ex of Hefner’s, speaking about quaalude’s being the drug of choice. Hefner’s former secretary Lisa Loving Barrett backed up the claims, stating that “Quaaludes were what we called leg-spreaders. That was the whole point of them. They were a necessary evil, if you will, to the partying.” Lisa went on to speak about Hefner’s employees having prescriptions in their name, which she said was a way to get excess pills to “feed the machine.”
