Eminem dropped Kamikaze without any promotion on August 31, surprising fans with an album that quickly gained buzz off of tracks like “Fall” and “Greatest,” as he called out artists by name.

Kamikaze sold 434,000 total copies, including 252,000 digital-only traditional copies, landing Eminem his ninth number one album. The monumental feat is only surpassed by the Beatles, Jay-Z, Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, and Elvis Presley.

Drake’s Scorpion, Travis Scott’s Astroworld and Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys album were the only ones to surpass Eminem’s opening week numbers so far in 2018.
