Eminem’s ‘Kamikaze’ Cover Pays Homage to Beastie Boys ‘Licensed To Ill’

The energy surrounding Eminem’s latest release ‘Kamikaze’ is high, as the rapper has addressed many topics and people on the album. Along with that, the rapper took some time to pay homage to an important hip-hop group: The Beastie Boys.

Em’s album cover features a plane that says “Kamikaze” on the tail, which is similar to the artwork of the Beastie Boys’ 1986 album ‘Licensed to Ill.’ The pivotal album was released on Def Jam, and was the first rap album to hit the top of the Billboard album chart. On each album cover, the letters on the side of the plane are phrases backward that were and are considered derogatory for their time. The Beastie Boys’ cover had the numbers and letters “3MTA3” which translates to “Eat Me,” while Em’s cover says “TIKCU5” which translates to “Suck It.”
