Elon Musk revealed that his SpaceX Mars mission would be a change in pace from the way things function on Earth, noting the mission will use constellations of satellites to provide internet connection to make a self-sustaining city on the planet.

Along with that, Musk noted that the colony created on Mars will not adhere to international earth laws. In the terms of service for SpaceX’s Starlin internet project, it says “For services provided on Mars, or in transit to Mars via Starship or other colonization spacecraft, the parties recognize Mars as a free planet and that no Earth-based government has authority or sovereignty over Martian activities.” The terms of service continues on to say that issues “will be settled through self-governing principles, established in good faith, at the time of Martian settlement.” It was noted that people of Earth using the internet on Earth’s moon will have to adhere to California laws.
