Busta Rhymes is bringing back one of Hip-Hop’s most sacred creative partnerships with a full album built entirely on unreleased production from the late J Dilla.
Busta announced that Dillagence 2 arrives August 25, 2026, marking the first major project to showcase the vault of beats Dilla entrusted to him before his death in 2006. Busta shared the news in an intimate Instagram video featuring Ma Dukes, J Dilla’s mother, nodding along to one of the album’s tracks during a March listening session, capturing the emotional weight of what’s to come. The album serves as a sequel to 2007’s Dillagence, the DJ Mick Boogie-hosted mixtape that first paired Busta’s rapid-fire delivery with Dilla’s signature production style.
Back in February, Busta hosted a private listening session in New York City where early snippets hinted at a collaboration with Lil Wayne, adding another layer of anticipation to the release. The creative bond between these two artists runs deep. Busta and J Dilla collaborated on classics like “Still Shining,” “Turn Me Up Some,” and “Show Me What You Got” across six of Busta’s first seven solo albums. Dilla’s influence shaped some of the most memorable moments in Busta’s catalog, and Busta revealed in a 2020 GQ interview that Dilla left him with over 300 unreleased beats before his passing.
