While on ā€˜The Residency Podcast,ā€™ UGK member Bun B said that Jay-Z was the first to be given a $1,000,000 budget for a rap video.

Bun B noted that videos that came out before ā€œBig Pimpinā€ were given that amount of money over time. Still, Hovā€™s video was the first song to be given a million-dollar budget from the beginning.Ā While speaking about the 1999 music video of which he and Pimp C were a part of, Bun said, ā€œThis was the first million-dollar budgeted rap video ever. Now, rap videos had budgets that went over that [and] ended up costing a million dollars, but blocked one million dollars just for this music video.ā€ Bun B gave more insight, saying, ā€œI had never seen anything like it. It was the first rap video I think on ā€˜Making a Videoā€™ on MTV.ā€Ā
