Jay-Z has reportedly picked himself to perform the Super Bowl halftime show when the big game takes place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Feb. 14, 2027, according to Puck.
The Brooklyn rap icon — who is the decision-maker for Super Bowl halftime talent after his entertainment company Roc Nation reached an agreement with the NFL in 2019 — has long been a more compelling option than Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, both of whom were in talks for the gig, multiple sources told the outlet. Jay-Z, who has yet to address the report, will hit the stage to perform two shows Friday and Saturday at SoFi Stadium, where he could announce the Super Bowl halftime news.
Roc Nation began working with the NFL in 2019 as its live music entertainment strategist. The company won Emmy Awards for its work, including for Bad Bunny’s halftime show this year. Puck reported that the NFL renewed the deal in 2024 for five more years, at $5 million a year. That would keep Roc Nation tied to the show past next February. The Los Angeles dates will close his “JAŸ-Z30” run. Those shows are set for the same venue as the Super Bowl, less than four months before the game. A pop-up for his anniversary shows is due to close on October 22.
Super Bowl LXI is set for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
