Trae tha Truth showed up in Northwest Indiana this week with thousands of hot meals, cleaning supplies, blankets, and chainsaws, proving once again that the Houston rapper’s humanitarian work extends far beyond music.
The rapper and activist partnered with Operation BBQ Relief to set up outside a Walmart on US 41 in Schererville, where they’ve been distributing free meals to residents still recovering from devastating storms and prolonged power outages that hit the region last week. This isn’t Trae’s first disaster response mission. The rapper has built a reputation for showing up wherever disaster strikes. He met Operation BBQ Relief during Hurricane Harvey in Houston, and the partnership has been unstoppable ever since. He’s also working with Matthew 25 Ministries, a disaster relief organization that deploys supplies to affected communities. When asked what keeps him going despite his successful music career, Trae didn’t hesitate. His next stop was meeting with Mayor Eddie of Gary to coordinate relief efforts across multiple areas. Trae plans to hit several neighborhoods to maximize the impact of the meals and supplies.
