Former NBA star Stephen Jackson put Lil Yachty on blast for a disrespectful bar referencing his late friend George Floyd, but the two appear to have made amends since.
It all started w hen Yachty appeared on Plaqueboymax’s live stream earlier this week, where he played an unreleased track slated to land on the Concrete Boys’ upcoming compilation, which contained the distasteful lyric about Floyd’s death. Jackson immediately took issue with the lyric and pressed Yachty on social media, even tagging the Atlanta rapper in his since-deleted post on Thursday (Aug. 14) criticizing him. Jackson, who was a close friend of Floyd’s and an outspoken advocate for justice after his 2020 killing, didn’t hold back. In a social media video, he tagged Yachty directly to make sure his message was heard. The former Golden State Warriors forward went on to blast what he sees as a disturbing trend among some younger artists: using the names of the dead for shock value.
